Sarens Thailand has been awarded a prestigious safety accolade for achieving the "4-million-man hours without lost time incident" on the Sequoia Project. The award was granted by TTCL (Toyo-Thai Corporation Public Company Limited), recognizing the dedication and hard work of the team on the ground. This accomplishment reflects the commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards on the projects and underscores Sarens' continuous focus on safety and operational excellence.
Sarens, global leader and reference in crane rental services, heavy lifting and engineered transport, is committed to well-being and protection of human life by the implementation of an integrated management system where they set the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) objectives goals and measure the performance (KPI’s) against these with the objective of continual improvement. The Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle and the Code of Conduct in all Sarens activities integrate safety, health, environment and quality requirements into all activities; more specifically in the Sarens Project Management Procedure (SPM) and care for preventive security.
In order to put this policy into practice and avoid incidents and accidents, the Sarens 7 Life Saving Rules (LSR) are developed and implemented. All employees are expected to perform their job in accordance with this company philosophy and follow all applicable procedures and instructions including the Stop & Consult Procedure as a final Last-Minute Risk Assessment (LMRA) before commencement of work.
In addition to using collective protection equipment, all employees have appropriate work wear and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) that meets the highest standards in accordance with local legislation. The company also makes periodical risk-based medical surveillance for all Sarens employees, SHEQ training and safety-based behaviour training to monitor and manage occupational health risks inherently present in the nature of their business.
Sarens was commissioned by TTCL to carry out works of lifting, installation and exchanges for the plantain the Sequoia Project for the first time in 2021, with the need for NatureWorks, a company dedicated to the manufacture of low carbon polylactic acid (PLA) biopolymers from renewable resources, to expand its global capacity and start construction of its second Ingeo biopolymer manufacturing plant in Thailand. Having completed site preparation in June 2022, the first construction works for piles, subway piping, stormwater management and tank foundations began, with completion expected in the second half of 2024.
This facility is designed to be fully integrated and is located in Nakhon Sawan province. The manufacturing centre will have an annual capacity of 75,000 tons of Ingeo biopolymer, expanding its production globally and supporting growth in markets such as 3D printing and hygiene, as well as compostable coffee capsules, tea bags, flexible packaging and food products that demand sustainable, low-carbon materials and require high-performance attributes.
Sarens has more than 60 years of international experience in the development and installation of strategically important projects. In the energy sector, Sarens has been recently involved in the Clean Fuel Project works in Thailand, in the expansion of the S-Oil plant in Ulsan, South Korea, in the construction of the Petroperu refinery in Talara (Peru), and in the Skikda refinery in Algeria among others. Sarens was recently commissioned by PTSC M&C for the load out of an LQUP jacket weighing more than 4,500 tons in Vietnam that will be dedicated to the extraction of Oil&Gas in the Bay of Bengal.
