This memorandum lays the foundation for future collaboration between Sarens and PTSC, which will involve the pursuit of new opportunities in the renewable energy sector in Vietnam and other countries in the region.
Sarens and PTSC have worked together over the past 12 years on a multitude of oil & gas, onshore plants and civil works projects.
Renewable energy generation, especially in its offshore variant, will continue to be one of the most important focus for Sarens in SouthEast Asia, taking advantage of the signature of a memorandum of understanding with PTSC, leading company in technical services related to energy and oil extraction and processing in the region.
The memorandum of understanding between Sarens, world leader in heavy lifting, engineered transport and crane rental, and PTSC comes at a time when industry and public institutions are already working on different alternatives to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This way, both companies will look forward for new ways to collaborating in the development of projects related to offshore renewable energies as a complement to their joint activity, which started 12 years ago, in sectors such as oil & gas, installation and maintenance of onshore plants as well as civil works.
As part of this commitment in the region, EVN, the main electricity company in Vietnam, together with various companies in the energy sector, is already working on the development of the first offshore wind farm in the country, with the aim of reaching 7GW of electricity generation by 2030. In this regard, PTSC is the only member of Vietnam Oil&Gas Group (Petrovietnam) with legal entity to invest, develop and operate offshore energy projects in Vietnam.
Mr. Le Manh Cuong, General Director of PTSC, recalled at the signing ceremony the importance of having a sufficient fleet of specialized machinery as key to the success of any offshore wind energy project, due to the need to manufacture and transport large and heavy infrastructure for operation at its final location.
In the same vein, Mr. Aseem Bhajeta, Regional Director of Sarens in SouthEast Asia recalled the role of Sarens as a relevant player for the industry worldwide, having "the largest fleet of specialized machinery, a first-class engineering team and a great proven experience thanks to our participation in offshore wind energy projects around the world.”
With this agreement, Sarens and PTSC will extend their collaboration, which started 12 years ago, and which has led both companies to work together in the development of projects such as Bien Dong 1, Te Giac Trang H5, Ghana OTCP FPSO, Gallaf Batch 1 LQUP or more recently, in the development works of the NOC Gallaf Batch 3 in Qatar Al-Shaheen oil field.
Sarens owns an extensive international experience in the development and maintenance of offshore wind farms. Among other projects, it has participated in the installation of wind farms such as Fécamp, Saint-Brieuc and Saint-Nazaire in France, or in the Seagreen Offshore Wind Project in Zhuhai (China).
