The global specialist in heavy lifting, engineered transport and crane rental was called upon by PTSC M&C to Load out a new Living Quarters Jacket in its fabrication yard for its Contractor.
For the load out transportation of this module, measuring 45x53 metres and weighing more than 4,500 tons, Sarens used 168 axle-lines and 8 power packs, as well as eight winches and 34 ballast pumps, which were commissioned with referenced suppliers.
Sarens has broken its own record for the load out of large structures in Vietnam, having been able to complete the transport of a LQUP (Living Quarters and Utilities Platform) jacket weighing more than 4,500 tons at the PTSC M&C plant in Vung tau, Bà ria Vietnam.
This module will be dedicated to the extraction of oil & gas in Cluster 2 field, an oil and gas field located in Block KG-DWN 98/2 in the Bay of Bengal, on the east coast of India. The jacket measures 45x53 metres, and has been a major technical and technological challenge for the Sarens team in the region, requiring more than six months of planning and calculations to get the right ballast needed and to carry out the operation in the best conditions of safety and efficiency.
For this job, Sarens used 168 axle-lines and 8 power packs, plus eight winches and 34 ballast pumps operating under the supervision of Sarens load-out commander. Although it took five days to configure the SPMTs for this major operation, Sarens technical team was able to complete the work of lifting and moving the cargo in just four hours.
