Sarens has been commissioned by PT Krakatau Jasa Samudera to collaborate on the transportations, handlings and heavy lifts during the next year.

Sarens, global leader and reference in crane rental, heavy lift and engineered transportation services, has been selected to collaborate with PT Krakatau Jasa Samudera on the transportations, handlings and heavy lifts during the next year. Last august, PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera (KBS) inaugurated several strategic projects that are part of the Krakatau Steel Group's Strategic Project in the Krakatau International Port in Cilegon, Indonesia. Krakatau Jasa Samudera is a loading and unloading services company with more than 30 years of experience and excellence in its field.
The project began in September with the transportation of all the equipment in flat beds to site from the yard that took about 6 hours. After that it took 3 to assemble the crane, the SCC1500 (150T), assessing first the stability of the port area. Sarens team also made load tests and boom up tests to ensure the load capacity and lift handlings.
Sarens Crawler Crane (SCC) 1500 was selected for the needs to handle heavy and oversized cargo and the ability to move around the port. With a boom configuration of 57 meters height, this equipment is capable of handling a wide range of lifting tasks.
As it’s a port area where the seabreeze is present and heavy, wind is the main factor of challenge for executing. One of the fist works that the Sarens team had to carry out was the lifting of the wheel loader to a barge. The large dimensions of the wheel made it necessary to implement safety protocols to ensure the crew and equipment during the works. The wheel loader was 23 meters long and weighed 18 tons, with a total radius of 18 meters. Lift proceeded with slewing the crane body as the object was placed beside the barge.
This project and the next one to come aim not only to positively affect the supporting service facilities, but also to successfully boost the growth of the Krakatau International Port. Offering a full-service integrated industrial infrastructure and located at the tip of Sunda Strait, Banten Province, which is strategic for its easy accessibility, it now becomes a competitive business hub.
